Our National Conference

About the Conference

The National Conference is an annual event, bringing together our volunteers and like-minded individuals across the UK for a day of talks, lectures and workshops, related to the charity's cause for all to participate in.

Highlights from our first Conference (2021)

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our first national conference was run virtually on Zoom.

However, the event was a huge success.

The conference included a highly profound set of speakers, such as our keynote speaker Yvonne Newbold MBE, and Dr Pramodh Vallabhaneni.

Session topics included:

  • Extreme Behaviour in Children with disabilities or additional needs.
  • An introduction to Play Therapy and the theory.
  • British Sign Language and Deaf Awareness.
  • Why choose paediatrics?
  • A career in Paediatrics
  • Hair and Make Up worthy of a Princess!

Amazing to have held our first ever conference on Saturday! Despite is being virtual and a few technical teething...

Highlights from our second Conference (2022)

In March 2022, we hosted our first in person National Conference in Cardiff, during the weekend of 12-13th.

Over the two days, volunteers participated in a variety of workshops from face painting and advanced props to acting skills and autism, featuring speakers including Alison Smith (Time for Autism), Helen Finlinson (St Elizabeth Hospice) and Emi Howell (Howell School for Acting), alongside Naomi Wray, Cardiff BSL Society President and our very own Chair, Luke Morgan; Costume Manager, Lexy Haggerty; Cardiff Training Officer, Zoe Bannister and Co-Training Officers, Katie Hatt and Jeremy Lee.

Saturday evening also saw the return of the Charity Ball, very much to volunteers' enjoyment.

Workshops included:

  • Time for Autism (talk by Alison Smith)
  • Face Painting (led by Lexy Haggerty)
  • Advanced Props (led by Luke Morgan)
  • St Elizabeth Hospice (talk by Helen Finlinson)
  • Acting Skills (led by Emi Howell)
